“I like a teacher who gives me something to take home to think about besides homework.”-  Huck

Hobbledown offers an excellent day out for school visits and the Hobblers want to make sure the teachers enjoy the day just as much as the children! That starts with us offering you all the resources you need to make the most of your visit. We want this day to be easy to organise and stress free.

Small Animal Interaction

This will involve 2 animals usually a rabbit, guinea pig, mice or rat. This will involve an educational talk with a question and answer session.

Large Animal Interaction

This will involve 1 animal, such as a donkey, goat, sheep, alpaca or pony. This will involve an educational talk with a question and answer session. If the weather is not good enough for this animal to come out, the activity will be cancelled and a replacement activity will be organised. This decision will be made at the discretion of the management.

Hobbler Activities

We offer a range of activities including Glime making, kite making, fairy workshops and storytime. Please note we are unable to take requests for a specific activity. We will allocate one that is best suited to your group on the day of your visit.

Animal Education Session (NEW FOR 2017/18)

Choose from:
Minibeasts – an introduction to invertebrates, including a meet and greet with the likes of our giant snails, cockroaches and stick insects.
Rainforest – an introduction to the amazing diversity of the world’s rainforests. They will learn to identify the various layers of the rainforest, the animals which live in them and to classify them as omnivores, herbivores or carnivores.

Pre Ordered Packed Lunches

There is a lot to think about when organising a day trip with the school – especially when it comes to packed lunches. Among all the other important things that you have to remember, why not let the Hobblers sort this one out for you. After all, your day out should be about having a mysterical time and not about carrying lunch!

Our hassle-free nutritious lunches consist of:

  • Carton of Juice (Apple or Orange)
  • Ham or Cheese Roll
  • Frube Yoghurt Stick
  • A Juicy Raisin Pot
  • A Piece of Fruit

Each packed lunch costs just £3, so just tell us how many you will need on your booking form. Packed lunches need to be ordered at the time of booking.

Room hire

If you would like to eat your lunch indoors, we can reserve a room for you for a single charge of £25, irrelevant of how many ‘sittings’ you need. This would need to be reserved at least two weeks before your arrival date and would be available for you to leave your packed lunches in at the beginning of your visit. We cannot take responsibility for any valuables left in these rooms. The rooms will be allocated according to the sizes of the schools visiting on any particular day. They can accommodate around 30 to 60 children at a time.

Alternatively, you are welcome to eat in any of our outside picnic areas.

What else is there?

We offer exclusive use of our High Ropes Course, Tree Top Climbing Towers and Hobble Hood Archery Tag Arena which can be booked as an activity for your school. These would incur an additional charge of £45 per hour for 20 children.

The High Ropes has a minimum height restriction of 1.3 meters and the Climbing Towers has a minimum height restriction of 1m. Height checks must be approved by a qualified Hobbledown High Ropes instructor. Participation will be confirmed by Hobbledown Management. Archery Tag is suitable from age 8.
