Salary: £16,000.00 /year
You will predominantly be working with a range of species across our 50 acre site with responsibility for all aspects of animal care, including daily cleaning and feeding regimes, upkeep of animal records, whilst working to strict safety protocols and standard operational procedures.
However, in addition to this, you will be given areas of accountability, where you are encouraged to develop, maintain and improve specific facilities.
You will be expected to deliver daily talks, educational sessionsand host our very popular Keeper for a day experiences and meet and greet sessions. Other duties include, but are not limited to, manning our various public walkthrough enclosures,
This full time post is based on a 40hr week and you will be expected to work on a Rota system that incorporates weekends and school holidays as well as varying start and finish times.
A flexible approach to working hours is crucial.
Minimum training, certifications and experience.
Hold a relevant animal husbandry qualification or equivalent.
Minimum 2 years paid relevant Zoological, Hoof stock experience (ideally both)
Camelid (in particular Camel) and equid experience advantageous.
Valid drivers license.
Experience and knowledge of Species 360 (Zoological Information Management Software)
Knowledge, skills and Abilities
Must have excellent problem solving skills and the ability to work independently on solving problems.
Must have stong communications and collaboration skills and a commitment to Animal Care/Welfare and legislation.
Must be willing to work with a changing, diverse collection of animals.
You must be able to demonstrate the ability to welcome and engage visitiors and be able to assist with delivering educational activities.
The successful candidate will be diligent and passionate. And be a strong and reliable team player able to maintain a high worjk rate with good time keeping, high levels of cleanliness and an organised work environment.
Mut have the hightest standards of animal husbandry and welfare at all times including implementing training and enrichment programmes, monitoring health, researching nutritional needs and excellent enclosure presentation.
Assist in the management and implementation of all aspects of Health and Safety including working protocols, risk assessments and manual handling.
Starting salary £16000 per annum
