What you need to know:

  • Capybaras are calm and gentle giants, so Feed the Capybaras is suitable for even the youngest of hobblers, at age 6+!
  • Please bring wellies! Participants will be taken into the capybara enclosure, so footwear suited to muck and mud is required.
  • The experience lasts 15 - 20 minutes and includes your park entry
  • Participants will be given some leaves, cos lettuce or other type of feed, and an animal team member will take you into the enclosure and teach you how to feed the capybara safely
  • Meet the keepers! Q&A with the capybara caretakers will be available throughout the session, along with plenty of educational facts
  • Bring your camera! There will be plenty of great photo opportunities...

Feed the Capybaras FAQs

Participants enter the capybara enclosure with our trained animal team, offer approved treats, learn about their behaviour and habitat, and enjoy close-up interaction in a safe, structured session.

The experience is suitable for ages 6 years and above. Participants must be able to follow keeper instructions to ensure safety and animal welfare.

The session lasts approximately 15–20 minutes. Exact timings are confirmed at booking.

Yes. Feed the Capybaras is a popular gift for animal lovers and families looking for a unique wildlife experience. This experience makes a popular birthday gift, Christmas present or special treat. Gift vouchers are available and can be redeemed against available time slots.

Experience Terms and Conditions

  • Disclaimers must be read and signed prior to the experience.
  • Max 4 guests per timeslot for Feed the Capybaras
  • Hobbledown Heath day entry is included
  • Anyone entering Hobbledown must have a ticket. If you are accompanying someone doing an animal experience but are not participating, you must still hold your own general admission ticket
  • Participants will be provided Nitrile gloves and will be required to wash their hands following the experience
  • Free carers do not participate in the experience. Anyone wanting to participate in the experience will need their own experience ticket.
  • Whilst every effort is made to accommodate everyone, due to the nature of the experience unfortunately at the present time the experience is not suitable for pregnant guests, mothers who are nursing, or guests with immunosuppressant illnesses. This experience may not be suitable for disabilities which impact on motor skills, mobility, or severe learning difficulties.  Please contact us to discuss your individual needs.
  • This experience may not be private to your booking; if spaces are available, other participants may join.
