The Best Things to Do in Hounslow with Kids
You don't have to travel far for an extraordinary day out. Right here in Hounslow - on Staines Road, just off the M4 - two world-class family attractions sit side by side, ready to turn an ordinary Tuesday into something the kids will talk about for weeks.
Hobbledown Heath is a magical adventure farm park and zoo spread across 46 acres of woodland and meadow. Next door, Gripped delivers high-adrenaline aerial adventures for the brave and the bold. Together, they're the ultimate day out in West London.
Hobbledown Heath - Adventure, Animals & Imagination
There's something special about Hobbledown Heath. It's not just a farm, not just a play park, not just a zoo - it's all three, wrapped up in one big, beautiful adventure.
Climb 15-metre wooden towers. Crawl through underground tunnels. Race through four themed outdoor villages set in genuine Hounslow woodland. Then head inside to The Great Barn - one of the largest indoor play arenas in London - where the fun doesn't stop, whatever the weather.
Meet Some Remarkable Animals
Hobbledown Heath is home to over 100 farm and zoo animals, many of which you can get face-to-face with in open, walk-through enclosures.
Come and say hello to:
- Capybaras - the world's largest rodent, and genuinely as relaxed as they look
- Highland cows - those gorgeous, shaggy giants from the Scottish hills
- Meerkats - always on guard, endlessly entertaining
- Ring-tailed lemurs - lively, curious, and impossible not to love
- Birds of prey - watch daily flying displays with owls, hawks, eagles, and falcons
- Plus goats, macaws, giant tortoises, Patagonian maras, and dozens more
Want to get even closer? Book an animal experience - from feeding the capybaras to a full Zookeeper for a Day session with our expert keepers.
Outdoor Adventure for Every Age
From toddlers taking their first wobbly steps across a rope bridge to confident climbers conquering the tallest towers - there's a challenge for every age at Hobbledown Heath. The four themed outdoor villages are designed to spark imagination and push little adventurers just far enough. Bounce on jumping pillows. Discover hidden passages. Get happily, gloriously muddy.
The Great Barn - Play Whatever the Weather
Rainy day in Hounslow? No problem. Step inside The Great Barn - 25,000 sq ft of indoor play, anchored by the Whammock, a giant suspended rope arena like nothing else in West London. It's warm, it's enormous, and it keeps the whole family going long after the wellies come off.
Gripped - Aerial Adventures Right Next Door
If the little ones are sorted at Hobbledown, the bigger kids - and yes, the adults - can head next door to Gripped. This is where it gets seriously exciting.
Gripped is an outdoor aerial adventure park set among the trees on Hounslow Heath, built for thrill-seekers aged 15 and over. The views over West London are stunning. The drops are not for the faint-hearted.
What's at Gripped?
- Zip Trek - 1km of zip lines and aerial bridges weaving through the treetops. Our most popular activity, and easy to see why.
- Dual zip lines - race a friend side by side over the valley below
- High ropes courses - 650 metres of climbing, crawling, swinging, and balancing up to 7.5 metres above the ground
- Speed slides - two 50-metre slides from 24 metres up. One near-vertical drop. One swirly spiral. Both terrifying. Both brilliant.
- Bag jumps - launch yourself from 3 to 6 metres into a giant airbag
- Power Fan Descender - free-fall from 24 metres. Your own body weight does the rest.
Gripped is separately ticketed from Hobbledown Heath, so you can visit one, the other, or - if you're ambitious - both in a single epic day. The car park is shared, and the two attractions sit side by side.
